I’ve started this post so many times, because I kept finding myself sounding like ‘astrologer explains a transit’, and I wanted to share something more interesting.
I thought about myths….
First it was Tiresias. The blind prophet who lived at different times as a man and a woman, and when Zeus finally asked him straight out who feels more pleasure, he replied… women. He was struck blind for this admission (some say it was Zeus, some say it was Hera, but either way, he ended up losing his physical sight).
I keep thinking about that. We say we want to know the truth, until we hear something we don’t like. Someone often gets offended when the ‘truth’ is told.
And that makes me think of the famous Libran gift of diplomacy. Yet at times I have found them to be quite blunt when the charm button has been turned off.
Librans are often portrayed as one of the weak people pleasers of the zodiac, bending to what everyone else wants of them. This is not true. They do value partnership and harmony, but Librans do have limits. They may set them in a more diplomatic way because fairness, peace and balance are important to them.
Then I thought about art…
The Birth of Venus. We have a print of it in Temple Divine. Venus, arriving from the froth of the ocean, naked, not ashamed of her body or her desires. And we’re back to that theme of truth…
The naked truth, stripped bare. No shame about pleasure. She’s here to embody it. Yet aspects of our society can be a little repressed when it comes to pleasure.
I spoke to someone recently who was hosting a workshop in Glasgow on ‘Pleasure’. I asked how that was going down with a Scottish audience. We both laughed a little.
Then I’m back at mythology again… and this beautiful image I chose to use for the blog… this time Cupid (Eros) and Psyche. This sculpture shows Cupid reviving Psyche with a kiss. This image brings out the romantic in me. What about you?
But there is something that still feels quite watery for a Libra transit. That’s my own Venus talking. She’s exalted in Pisces, which is about as romantic, and gushy as it gets.
Venus in Libra isn’t that. She’s still romantic, deeply so, but more refined. Considered. She wants it done properly, balanced, not flooded with emotional waters.
The feminine wants that kind of refinement. Someone who can hold instead of drowning into pure chaos. But sometimes the feminine resents that containment. They want to merge completely.
That’s the whole thing, isn’t it. Connection. Balance. Relating. But it’s not as straightforward as it sounds. It’s the kind of space where two very different energies have to actually meet each other.
Every Astrologer interprets these energies differently…
And that’s what Venus moving into Libra is making me think about today.
Astrology is deeply subjective…
