A lion needs to roar. That’s what first came to mind when thinking about Mercury entering Leo. Then I thought… why DO lions roar?
I did some research… Lions roar to announce themselves, warn, protect, find each other, express distress, etc. And I thought, maybe humans aren’t that different… except we’ve been socially conditioned not to express it.
So I started thinking about the different kinds of human “roaring”.
Sometimes we roar to make a statement: “I am here. See me. I am important.”
Sometimes we roar to protect. Like a lioness roaring for the love of her cubs. A deep, instinctive courage.
Sometimes we roar from pain. Leo doesn’t like to show weakness. Leo wants to be seen as capable, composed, regal. But sometimes the pain gets too big for the composure, and it explodes dramatically.
And sometimes we roar simply to release.
I remember running a retreat where myself and one of the participants ended up in the water together, in the middle of nowhere, and we just… roared. Two humans making the most primal sound we could into open space. It felt wild and liberating.
We suppress so much. We edit, soften, manage, swallow it back down. We choose the careful word, the diplomatic response, the measured tone.
And sometimes we hold back because we’re afraid of being dramatic.
Well. Mercury is in Leo now. Maybe it’s time to be dramatic.
Sometimes careful and considered stops working. Sometimes the roar is the only thing that lands.
Mercury in Leo is asking: “where are you not saying the thing? Where do you need to find your roar?”
Look at your chart and see where Leo sits. That’s where Mercury is asking you to find your voice and speak up.
