When Pleasure Heals

How about we stop fighting and allow ourselves to want, feel and receive? Exploring pleasure, surrender and healing through the myth of Hercules and Omphale.

Omphale was a queen. Powerful, sensual, unapologetic.
She knew exactly what she wanted and she allowed herself to have it.

In mythology, Hercules was sold into her service for a time.
Hercules, the great warrior.
He was forced out of his role, stripped of his identity, and humiliated.
And here he is. At her feet.

Something important happened in that surrender and vulnerability.
His servitude turned into something more. They had children together.
He eventually reclaimed himself and was liberated. But he wasn’t the same man.

Two very different energies this week…

The Sun and Mercury are in Taurus… slow, sensory, embodied. A New Moon on Saturday asks honestly: what feels pleasurable, and where are you pushing that away?

Meanwhile… Mars meets Chiron in Aries on Saturday. The urge to defend, react, protect the wound. To stay in the role you know. If something triggers you this weekend, sit with it and feel all of it.

Maybe this is about knowing when to stand up and fight, and when to lie down and let go.
Maybe sometimes healing comes through allowing yourself to want something or someone.
And to enjoy. Without embarrassment, guilt or shame.
